Special thanks to all of you who provided input and nominations for our review of watching party options for the 2010-11 athletic seasons. We’re happy to announce that the DFW MSU Alumni Club will stick with Blackfinn Restaurant & Saloon in Addison as our primary location for watching parties this fall and winter. We’ve had a great relationship with Blackfinn and have shared many fine Spartan moments under their roof.
 As we gathered nominations and feedback for watching party locales, we received an unprecedented amount of support for staying where we’ve been for the past few years. Of course, in area as large as the Metroplex, we recognize that no single location will be convenient for everyone. And no venue will also cater to the tastes of all area Spartans. However we do aim to find a location that satisfies as many local alumni as possible. This year, with renewed energy and leadership on the west side of the Metroplex, we’re talking about having “joint” watching parties for one or more games – with one at Blackfinn and another “out west” (such as Sportsman’s Club at the Grapevine Embassy Suites, or something more towards Arlington/Ft. Worth). Keep an eye out for announcements regarding alternate watching party locales.
Our first game -- and watching party -- is just around the corner when MSU hosts Western Michigan on September 4th at 11am CT.

Thanks to Elmer Saunders – our watching party coordinator – and board member Basia Wojcik for their great work in negotiating another mutually-beneficial arrangement with Blackfinn. Thanks also to Blackfinn and their management team for maintaining their commitment to Michigan State. In the last few seasons we’ve seen two Final Fours and several great football games at Blackfinn – and are looking forward to more of the same this year.
