Hoops in Austin, Followed by Football in San Antonio!
The sports gods have delivered a tasty Texas doubleheader for us Spartans in the Lone Star State. Tom Izzo and the Spartan Basketball team travel to Austin on Dec. 22nd for match-up against the #2 Longhorns, followed by the football team's 2nd appearance in the Alamo Bowl on Jan. 2nd for a slug-fest ... er, game with Texas Tech.
Though the DFW MSU Alumni Club is not coordinating travel down to Austin for the basketball game, we encourage as many of you as possible to make the trek to support the Green & White in what should be a great game. Of course, if you aren't able to make it to Austin, we'll still have a watching party at Blackfinn in Addison.
 Meanwhile, Michigan State Football earned its third straight bowl berth and an invitation to Texas to play the Red Raiders in the Alamo Bowl at 7pm CT on Saturday, January 2nd. The MSU Alumni Association is offering the official bowl travel packages, including “land only” and “game day” deals that include game tickets and entry to special events. For tickets only, see link below. Attendance at bowl games impacts future bowl invitations for MSU, so we also encourage you to buy your tickets through MSU (MSUAA or Spartan Ticket Office) and not other sources. This way you’ll be sitting with other Spartans and helping support future MSU football programs all at the same time! The DFW MSU Alumni Club has no plans to purchase block tickets specifically for DFW area Spartans, and there are no current plans for any combined (i.e., bus) travel plans from DFW to San Antonio.

For those of you not going to San Antonio for the game, we are working with Blackfinn on the plans for a watching party. Given that Texas Tech alumni have often called Blackfinn “home”, it could make for a festive Saturday night in Addison. Stay tuned for more info.
