Frisco's Velora Hall Awarded $1,000 Scholarship! The DFW MSU Alumni Club is proud to introduce our scholarship award winner for the 2009-2010 school year. Velora Hall of Frisco was awarded a $1,000 scholarship -- and is the third different Metroplex-area student in four years to receive our scholarship. The Club established the scholarship fund at MSU to support students heading to Michigan State who have graduated from high schools in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area. Michigan State's Office of Admissions and Scholarships selects the award winner annually, looking for someone with above average academic achievement, demonstrable civic involvement and proven leadership traits. Velora graduated from Liberty High School in the top 20% of her class, where she was involved in choir and was the Historian of the Psi Alpha (psychology) Club. She selected MSU in part because her father was from Lansing and her Mom is a Spartan alum! In fact, her parents have frequented Blackfinn this fall to cheer on Spartan football! Velora plans to study Music Education at MSU -- as she loves music and wants to share that passion with others. Congratulations to you, Velora, and thanks to the countless local MSU alumni who have contributed to our scholarship endowment through events, 50-50 raffles and other donations. The DFW MSU Alumni Club will continue to raise funds for the scholarship endowment so it continues to grow and we're able to award richer scholarships to multiple deserving students.
