>> YA Committee to Meet on June 25th

 msuaa young alumni header.jpg

In order to more effectively address the interests and needs of recent MSU grads in the DFW Metroplex, the DFW MSU Alumni Club is forming a Young Alumni Committee of Spartans in their 20's. The committee will be tasked with identifying and executing on new ways to attract young Spartans in the area to the DFW MSU Alumni Club and the MSUAA -- and to better serve this important demographic. This includes events targeting Young Alumni, communications (i.e., our Facebook group), etc.

Though we've made some positive strides in the last few years, younger MSU alumni have been underrepresented in club activities and with the MSUAA overall. With the economic struggles in Michigan, we're seeing an unprecedented number of recent grads move into the DFW Metroplex. So this is a very important demographic for us and to the MSUAA (see www.msualum.com/ya). Recently, former Spartan Basketball player Tim Bograkos joined the MSU Alumni Association staff to specifically focus on Young Alumni involvement and growth.

As the outgoing Young Alumni coordinator, DFW MSU Board member Basia Wojcik has agreed to act as a "mentor" to this committee and we already have a few quality Spartans that have expressed interest on serving with this local task force. If you are also interested in serving on the Young Alumni Committee, please contact Club President Christopher Horner and/or Basia Wojcik at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   and This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , respectively. This new committee will meet on Thursday, June 25th at 6:30pm at BlackFriar Pub in Uptown (2621 McKinney) to begin sharing ideas.  Come join us!

Additionally, we have reduced the price this year to $80 for the full event, and for the first time we will also offer a $10 dinner-only ticket. POST-GOLF DINNER/RECEPTION FEATURING SPECIAL GUESTS

rgosselin1.jpgAfter the golf is done, join us for our Spartan Scramble Reception & Dinner at Frisco Lakes, starting at 6:30pm CT. This buffet dinner and awards ceremony is included with the golf package, however we also encourage those who can't join us during the day to come out and participate after the tournament for the low dinner-only price of $10. This reception will feature the Dallas Morning News' Rick "Goose" Gosselin, one of the nation's most respected NFL writers known among other things for his draft expertise and mock draft accuracy. A Detroit native, Rick is a '72 grad of MSU and can be heard/seen often on local and national TV and radio, including The Ticket and ESPN Radio. He's also working on a book due to be released this summer -- "Goodfellows - The Champions of St. Ambrose".  We will also be joined by Constantine Demos, co-author of the new mega-book "The Tradition Continues - Spartan Football" (www.msufpatraditionsbook.com), who will talk briefly about the book and have copies to purchase and have signed. We encourage ALL local Spartans to join us for at least the reception/dinner.

Sign-up individually or as a team today!  The new deadline is June 5th.  To register for golf or dinner only or to volunteer or donate to the prize fund, please contact Steve Novak at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
